I'm the mother of two wonderful boys, Josh and Zach, the "JZ" in JZ Jewelry Designs. I also have two gorgeous red Maine Coon cats, Max and Bailey, and an adorable, lovable, and CRAZY basset hound named Clyde. If there's anyone out there who's a "dog whisperer", thinks they can handle training my incorrigible basset, and lives in Connecticut, I'd LOVE to offer jewelry (pieces on my website or custom-made) in exchange for your services!! I was able to enjoy 8 years as a stay-at-home mom, before returning to work part-time as a prenatal genetic counselor in 2005. I love the one-on-one contact with patients. However, as you can imagine, being the one to deliver the news that a pregnancy is not going as planned is extremely stressful, so jewelry designing has provided a very therapeutic release.
I just finished 7 years as coordinator of the schoolwide at-home reading program at my local elementary school. I absolutely LOVE working in the elementary school--there is nothing like the wide-eyed innocence of so many of the students. How I wish we all could carry some of that into adulthood!! I also volunteer my time as a Diabetes Advocate, writing my state legislators and President Bush to help pass important legislation for issues concerning diabetes and people with disabilities. I am a Moderator of the Fast Friends Studio (FFS), an eBay group for jewelry and bead artisans.
Some of my passions beside jewelry making include photography (although I'm MUCH better at photographing people than jewelry!!), scrapbooking, reading and swimming.
I truly appreciate your interest in my jewelry. I strive to make quality pieces, and I won't sell anything I wouldn't be proud to wear myself (in fact, I have trouble NOT adding many of the pieces to my "personal collection").
